About

Reading is not information intake.

It is something closer to simulation. When you read, you are not receiving a story — you are constructing one. Building scenes, inferring motives, modelling inner states, predicting what comes next.

That construction is a skill. And like any skill, it atrophies when unused.

We built Octopus because we noticed something: the tools that were supposed to help us read more were quietly making it harder to read well. Summaries. Highlights. Streaks. Progress bars. All of them shift the cognitive load away from you — and onto the machine.

Octopus is built on the opposite principle. The AI stays peripheral. You remain the meaning engine. We just make it easier to stay inside the world a little longer.

"This is not just an app to help you read more.
It is a place where your mind relearns how to stay somewhere."
